Music, Room, Family, Me.
Posted by admin on August 25th, 2008 filed in family, Sweet MomentsI am in my room here in Dagupan as I type this entry. No wait, this is our room – It is the little corner of the house where my father, my mother and my brother used to sleep and pray together and in the evening and wake up as the sun goes up in the sky.
When was the last time I spent my time with my father in this room? Hmmm.. that was way back in July 4, 2004, A Sunday. I remember telling him how excited I am to be dancing in the University orientation program. He looked at me differently as he wants me to concentrate on my academics for college. That night, I slept with my brother here in this room as my father lies in the ICU Bed #3 fighting for his life.
I can’t really remember the exact date, but the last time I slept with my mom in this room was sometime in the first week of November. We took some pictures using my new laptop and we were giggling like little girls. In this room, she showed her pasalubongs to me, to carlo, to her relatives, to her friends and her former officemates.
So when was the last time I slept with Carlo in this room? February 7, 2008. I remember recording a number of videos days before we went to Manila for his flight.
When my father was still alive, this room was filled with different genres of music – From Beatles to Cars, to Jon Secada, to Bananarama (what?!LOL) to cars, to Madonna to Heart and my favorite Earth, Wind and Fire. He owns this big collection of cassette tapes and his former job as a DJ counts as well.
When my mom was still here, you would usually hear her favorite dance songs like “On the Radio”, “I’m in the mood for dancing”, “Do the hustle”, “September” and much, much more. She is a good dancer, I tell you. I think I got my dancing talent from her
When my Carlo was still here, we would play the same song over and over again – I’m not lying! I am planning to write a separate entry about it soon so you better watch out
. We play some of his favorite songs like Umbrella (eya eya eye y ey daw), Seven Black Roses (Carlo loves Chicosci), Sunburn (Sunbum for him) and Zaido (tenenenenen Zaido!).
There is this one song that Carlo keeps on singing if he’s with me. The song is “Strength of a Woman” By Geri Halliwell. He would kiss me everytime the song ends.
Let me share this video taken last January as we chill inside our room while listening to the song and as we eat some stick-o :
Now, I am here in the room playing the song “Alone” By Heart. Nah, I’m not heartbroken and I don’t really have that strong hidden desire for someone, but yeah, it feels so empty staying here and alone..

You touched me with your memories of your father, Mica, as it brings back memories of my own. Hang in there, Mica.
